About the Holistic Practice Development company

Founded on the principles of service, integrity, and accountability in the business of health care, Holistic Practice Development is the world leader in cultivating thriving, sustainable practices for natural and holistic health care practitioners from all disciplines.

Using its Total Practice Success Blueprint, the Holistic Practice Development company helps health care practitioners to grow their practice in a way that works best for them.

Most practitioners are well-trained in how to care for patients, but lack essential knowledge and skills in what is necessary to build a long-term successful practice.  We focus on providing training, education, and personalized coaching services to support practitioners in the best way that works for them.

Our Founders

James Maskell, CEO

James Maskell, CEO

James Maskell has been involved in holistic medicine almost since birth, whether he liked it or not.

His first chiropractic adjustment was at 15 minutes old, and he consistently responded well to homeopathy during his childhood.

At the University of Nottingham, James studied Economics with a focus on the food and healthcare industries before following a ‘rebellious’ career path in investment banking and markets which proved short lived.

His time in banking showed him that world focus on short-termism across all industries, but particularly healthcare and food were costing society in the long run.

America has outspent any other nation in health care and yet has been slipping further and further down the world rankings in key health indicators.

So, in 2005, James moved to America to help to shift the health paradigm of the country to incorporate true primary care . . . nutrition, exercise, prevention and holistic therapies.

For 18 months, James was instrumental in the running and growth of The Spa on Green Street, a holistic day spa in Gainesville, GA that seeks to be a model for the integration of spa and holistic medicine.

As well as excellence in combining therapies for optimal health outcomes, the Spa on Green Street also set a precedent for excellence in personnel management, systems, marketing and modern retail design.

With these skills embedded, James moved to the Northeast in 2007 to help practitioners grow and develop their holistic practices through a partnership with Energetix, a Bio-Energetic remedy and education company based in Georgia.

Having helped hundreds of practitioners look at ways to develop strong, sustainable healing practices, James met Dr Andrew Colyer in 2008 and recognized the congruence of their respective visions which lead to the formation of Holistic Practice Development in 2010.

As a Professional Coach-Consultant-Entrepreneur:

Dr. Colyer’s first year out of chiropractic school found him working for the largest chiropractic corporation in the United States, Behrman Chiropractic, with 50 clinics in 10 different states.   This provided excellent training for using systems to run a profitable business.

Following his year with Behrman in Philadelphia, Dr. Colyer relocated back to the St. Louis area and co-founded Parkland Pain & Rehab, Missouri’s first integrative health care facility; with three medical doctors, two chiropractors, two physical therapists, acupuncture, massage, nutrition, and psychotherapy.

After co-founding and running Parkland Pain & Rehab for five years, Dr. Colyer relocated to Rhinebeck, New York, where had an all-cash holistic health practice for eight years.  He sold that practice at the end of 2007,
and currently practices part-time in upstate New York and Sedona, Arizona,
while serving Holistic Practice Development clients and teaching Practical Kinesiology classes around the country.
